Kamika Ekadashi - காமிக ஏகாதசி


Kamika Ekadashi is celebrated during Krishna Paksha of Shravana month and this special day is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
Procedure:
Have a bath in the early morning and then worship Lord Vishnu, on this day. Panchamrut Abhishek has to be done to Lord Vishnu. He is also worshipped with Tulsi leaves and is considered as the most auspicious deed. Fruits, milk and sesame seeds are offered to Lord Vishnu. People fast on this day, light lamps(deepams) and donate clothes to Brahmins. Perform Jagaran on Ekadashi night and spend your time in singing bhajans and read Holy Scriptures. Break your fast on Dwadashi, which is the next day of the Ekadashi.

The story behind this viratham:
It’s quite an interesting story for Kamika Ekadashi. In a village, a landlord had a dispute with a Brahmin and killed him accidentally. He then repented and wanted to participate in his last rites. But none of the villagers agreed to it. Later, he approached a saint in order to cleanse his sins. He was advised by the saint to keep fast for Lord Vishnu on Kamika Ekadashi. Finally, while he slept near the Lord’s idol, Lord appeared to him in his dreams that night and relieved him from all his sins. 
Observe fast on this Ekadashi day and listen to the glory of Lord Vishnu which will pave your way to Vaikhunta.
